Netflix Bolsters Collaboration with Korean Creative Communities

Larva Island, New Kids & Family Original Series from Korea, Meets the World This Fall

Seoul, August 21 2018 - Netflix, the world’s leading internet entertainment service, continues its dedication to Korea content export and creative storytelling with today’s announcement of Larva Island, the Netflix Kids & Family original series from Korea.

At Seoul Promotion Plan (SPP) 2018 hosted by Seoul Metropolitan City and Seoul Business Association (SBA) today, Aram Yacoubian, K&F Int’l Originals Director, Netflix introduced rich slate of K&F content on Netflix and explained how Netflix brings great stories to kids and families audience in partnership with creators around the world.

“Great stories can travel beyond borders, including great stories from Korea,” said Yacoubian. “Larva has been a great example of high quality, global storytelling from Korea, and we’re thrilled to announce Larva Island, our new K&F Original series, in partnership with TUBAn. Larva Island brings back Larva’s beloved characters, Red and Yellow, who, with the help of some new friends, are certain to once again enthrall audiences of all ages in Korea and beyond.”

With the growing focus on the international K&F slate, Yacoubian showcased stories that have the potential to travel globally while emphasizing the important role Korean content communities can play in the global entertainment industry at the SPP conference which is attended by 150 participants from creative and media industries.

Closing the SPP session, Yacoubian also reiterated Netflix’s efforts on creating a safer environment for kids by empowering members to have full control of which content to show with kids profile and parental control with PIN.

The release date for the new Netflix original animation series Larva Island, a spin-off to the beloved Larva franchise, will be unveiled later this year.
