Netflix ISP Speed Index for May 2018
Here are some highlights from the May data for the Netflix ISP Speed Index, our monthly update on which Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide the best primetime Netflix streaming experience.
Indonesia’s Internux enjoyed the largest speed increase on the index this month. Internux’s speeds climbed by 0.68 Megabits per second (Mbps), bringing its average monthly speed to 1.77 Mbps, up from 1.09 Mbps in April. Despite these gains, declines at Indosat-Fibre and Infokom contributed to Indonesia falling four spots to 31st in our country rankings. Indosat-Fibre’s speeds slowed to 3.89 Mbps, down from 4.16 Mbps in April, while Infokom’s speeds declined to 2.89 Mbps from 3.18 Mbps last month.
In Malaysia, Telekom Malaysia continued its speed improvements from April, reaching an average monthly speed of 3.52 Mbps (from 2.97 Mbps in April). The gain contributed to Malaysia jumping eleven spots to 21st in our country rankings.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of primetime Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Faster Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions.
